Walking with Pikmin

I love walking.

Of the few truly “good” habits I have, taking a walk every morning is one of my bedrock routines. Six thousand steps is usually my minimum in a day. If I take a longer morning hike or a quick after lunch/dinner stroll I can get up to 13k or more. I also pace around the living room when I take breaks or get lost in thought. It feels weird to skip a day of walking.

So I tried out Pikmin Bloom, just to see how it would feel to “gamify” my walks a bit, and I quickly soured on it. I’m sure it can and has inspired people to move more, but as an inveterate walker, it just feels like the commodification of one more piece of our basic humanity…
